Nexus!: connection; tie; link

Repeatedly, I’ve received requests this past year to develop a mentoring/coaching program for those devoted to children’s ministry. And, as I’ve traveled the past six months, I’ve had the opportunity to ask about interest in such a relationship. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Whether it’s volunteer issues or aligning your vision with the senior pastor’s or figuring out how to do ministry on a shoestring budget … it’s beneficial to be able to bounce ideas off of someone who’s been there.  Having a mentor/coach who will give you honest feedback is a valuable asset. And, just being able to vent with someone in a safe relationship can prevent hardship that comes when you blow a gasket inappropriately. (Is there a proper way to blow a gasket?) I’m thrilled … excited …  filled with a healthy dose of apprehension … to announce that it is coming together. Pretty much all that is left is to add participants.

The 12-month mentoring/coaching program will be called Nexus, which means to connect. I’ve got to admit that I’m a little nervous. As with everything that I attempt in ministry, I want this to honor God and expand His kingdom, so I want it to be done with excellence. That’s what He deserves and anything less wouldn’t be right. So, it’s with a deep breath and a squeal of delight that I’m announcing the launch of Nexus!

My heart races and my eyes light up whenever people start talking about reaching kids for a lifelong journey with Jesus as their Savior and Lord. I desperately want to be part of making that happen by helping you create a vibrant God-centered children’s ministry where you are serving. In Nexus, I believe we’ve put together a year relationship, with both one-on-one and group dynamics, that will help you develop into the leader that the ministry you serve needs in order to reach more kids.

The first Nexus group will begin May 1, 2013. The number of participants will be limited, so if you’re interested, it’s time right now to request an application.
